The first reading for Mass this Sunday comes from 1 Kings 17:17-24, where Elijah saves the son of a widow who is dying; the responsorial Psalm is 30:2, 4, 5-6, 11, 12, 13, “I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me;” the second reading is Galatians 1:11-19, St. Paul telling of how he came to be an Apostle; and the Gospel is Luke 7:11-17, how Jesus raises from the dead the only son of a widow.
