Ceremony for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

Ceremony for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

The Status of Women Council of the NWT hosted a Tree of Honour ceremony in Hay River on Saturday, October 10 to recognize and honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, to pay tribute to families and friends who have lost loved ones, and to share information about relevant support services to aid in healing.

Some of our CWL ladies were in attendance:

The memory tree is located between the RCMP station and the Alexandra apartment building parking lot and is a reminder of our responsibilities to bring about transformative legal and social changes to resolve the crisis of Indigenous rights violations and abuses. Let us keep the victims and their families in our prayers.
