Rite of Christian Initiation (adult baptism)

Rite of Christian Initiation (adult baptism)

Our Lady of Assumption will be offering the RCIA program for any adults who wish to be baptised in the Church.

RCIA, which stands for “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults,” originates from the earliest beginnings of the Church and although the format has changed somewhat from one age to the next, the core content and steps remain similar.

This is not a course – there will be no exam at the end. Think of it more like a guided personal journey. Each person, in consultation with the parish priest, decides if and when he/she is “ready” for the next step of entering in full communion with the Church founded by Jesus Christ on Peter’s rock. If you were baptised in a Christian church, you are invited to join Confirmation classes with Sister Maggie (an announcement will be made soon with more information). If you have not been baptised but are interested in being initiated into the Catholic faith and joining the Church, the holy body of the people of Christ, this is an opportunity to have your questions about the Catholic faith answered.

The group will meet at 1730h each Monday and Tuesday evening in the Rectory until Easter, when adults typically get baptized and/or confirmed.

Please email Father Innocent or Marie if you would like more information or if you would like to join us. We look forward to journeying in faith with you! God Bless!
