An Easter message from Father Innocent

An Easter message from Father Innocent

Dear beloved parishioners,

As this year’s Holy Week draws near, I request that we pay attention to the following schedules for Holy Week Liturgical celebrations [Masses and services] and how we will be celebrating them in little different ways, amidst COVID-19 restrictions please.

MASS SCHEDULES FOR PALM SUNDAY:

  • 27/03/2021—————————————————————————– Assumption parish; Time: 5:00pm
  • 28/03/2021 ————————————————————————— Assumption parish; Time: 10:30am
  • 28/03/2021 ————————————————————————— Katlodeeche reserve; Time 1:30pm

Nota Bella: There are palms to be blessed and distributed in each of the three Masses. But, the tradition of beginning the mass at the church’s foyer with the blessing of palms and processing into the church will be omitted. Palms will be blessed in the front of the sanctuary and two parishioners will be designated to give out the palms to those who want them after each mass while maintaining social distancing.

MASS SCHEDULES FOR THE TRIDUUM:

  • Mass for the Passover, Holy Thursday 01/04/2021 ————————– Assumption parish; Time: 7:00pm
  • [The tradition of washing the feet of some parishioners will be omitted in this mass. We will still have the altar of repose for distributed one hour adoration, as it is customary after mass.]
  • Good Friday, Commemoration of the Passion of the Lord —————– Assumption parish; Time: 3:00pm
  • [In this service, the tradition of venerating the cross will be observed; but rather than kissing the cross, parishioners are encouraged to only bow or genuflect or even touch, if they choose. There will be somebody standing by to clean the spot with sanitizer, should any choose the option of touching.]
  • Holy Saturday, Mass of the Resurrection ——- Assumption parish; Time: 9:00pm.
  • [Every ritual in this important Mass will be observed. But, the ritual of the feeding of fire will be done by the ministers alone. Every other person, will be expected to be seated in the church so that the rule of social distancing will not be violated.]
  • Easter Sunday Mass —————————————————————- Assumption parish; Time: 10:30am
  • Easter Sunday Mass ————————————————————— Katlodeeche reserve; Time: 1:30pm

Finally, on behalf of the Parish Council headed by Eddie Smith and Sister Maggie, I wish every parishioner a grace-filled Easter celebration in advance. May the light of our risen Lord, shine in our hearts and minds; may it also shine in our homes and community. Amen!
